Common Billing Questions
-
What is the definition of a device?
A device is a unique Kolide agent enrollment.
When you install the Kolide agent on a computer and it enrolls in your account, the device is issued a unique key it uses to identify itself to Kolide. This unique key is saved locally on the device.
If this local data is erased (for example when the device is reformatted), the next time the Kolide agent is started, it will enroll again and get another unique key.
Kolide has options to assist customers who want to ensure devices with identical serial numbers and hardware UUIDs are de-duplicated in our system automatically. For new customers, this de-duplication option is enabled by default.
-
When is a device considered "active" for billing purposes?
A device is considered active if it has successfully checked-in to Kolide at least once in a 30 day period. Deleted devices are also not billable.
Kolide offers tools to allow customers to automatically delete devices when they are inactive for a customizable number of days.
-
Am I charged for inactive devices?
No. Kolide does not charge customers for storing data about inactive devices.
-
How many Slack users, admins, and API keys can I have?
As many as you want! Kolide does not charge per users, admins, or keys. Customers are only billed based on enrolled devices.
-
Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes, if you have more than 1,000 devices, reach out to us at sales@kolide.co.
